Barrhaven tops WC Electric 8-5 on Monday night
The GOFL Monday night game, originally scheduled for Fitzroy Harbour was moved to Carp with the power outage in the Harbour.
Barrhaven Broadway Blues prevailed with a 8-5 win over West Carleton Electric. Chad Hargrove went 6 innings for the win, getting a save from Trevor Lahey. Steve Cavanagh took the loss going the distance for Fitzroy.
The Blues staked out a 5-0 lead after the first two innings. Don Cox led the game off with a hard hit double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Joe Allan's bloop RBI double. Allan subsequently scored on Kevin Schonfield's off hand single to left. Chad Hargrove then walked and the runners advanced sixty feet on Etienne Edgerton's sacrifice bunt. Schonfield scored on a wild pitch to put Barrhaven up 3-0.
Barrhaven scored another pair in the second inning. Jordan Adams led off with a single. After a strikeout, Don Cox reached on a fielder's choice. Joe Allen then singled. Kevin Schonfield's double to left scored with two out cashed two runs to put the visitors up 5-0 in the top of the second.
Fitzroy got one back in the bottom of the frame. With one out, Jeff Cavanagh singled, the Steve Cavanagh walked. Dave Bahm's ground put Jeff Cav out, and then Mitch Taylor walked to load the bases. Another walk to Adam Brown scored the first run for Fitzroy, but Hargrove then indcued a ground ball to end the threat.
In the bottom of the third, WC Electric tightened the gap to 5-3. Troy Wilson walked with one out, moved to second on Derek Barber's single and both advanced on a passed ball. Jeff Cavanagh then drove in two runs with a single.
The Blues scored another run in the top of the fourth. Scott Adams tripled off hand to right field with one out, and scored on Don Cox's deep sac fly to centre to make it 6-3 for Barrhaven.
WC Electric scored another run in the fourth. Jeff Barber doubled with one out, moved to third on a ground ball and scored on Troy Wilson's RBI single.
The Trix made it a one run game in the sixth. Mitch Taylor led off with a single, took second a wild pitch, moved to third on a ground out and scord on Jeff Barber's sac fly to right to make it 6-5.
The Blues added two insurance runs in the top of seven as Kevin Schonfield singled and Chad Hargrove homered to finalize the scoring at 8-5.
Trevor Lahey came in for the bottom of the seventh and finsihed things for the save.
