Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League wraps up
The eight-team Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League concluded their playoffs on Wednesday night with a championship game played in front of a crowd of about 50 people.
This season the league opted for a new playoff format - playing a double knockout tournament spread out over 5 weeks.
The championship game was won by Ryley Burns' Green Team, which went through the playoff tournament undefeated at 4-0, beating the Ottawa Valley Heat Midget team in the final by a score of 11-4. Spencer Campbell, who also hit a home run to help his cause and Kurt Raycroft combined to throw for the green squad. Jeff Campbell took the loss for the midgets who were missing Adam Rueckwald from the pitching circle as he was away at school.
The Fitzroy league plays Wednesday nights and the occassional Sunday night at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre.
