Kars downs WC Electric 10-1
The Kars Aces used the long ball to down West Carleton Electric 10-1 in GOFL play Tuesday night in Fitzroy Harbour.
Cory Alkerton had the win for Kars while Jeff Barber took the loss with relief from Steve Cavanagh.
The game started out as a close matchup, still tied 1-1 after three.
Brad Pender led the game off for Kars with a solo homer.
Fitzroy also scored their first runner of the game. Jon Daley walked, moved to second on Jeff Barber's sac bunt, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Neil Murphy's ground out.
WC Electric loaded the bases in both the second and third, but Alkerton got out of the jams in both cases.
The Aces broke the game open in the fourth. Dave Tubman led off with a solo shot. Then two walks put Alkerton and Scott Marion on base, with Alkerton scoring on Kevin Chevrier's RBI single. Pender's three run shot made it 6-1.
Four more runs in the fifth for Kars capped the scoring as Pender and Alkerton both hit two run homers. When WC could not respond the game was halted after 5 innings.
