WC Electric blanks Barrhaven 3-0

West Carleton Electric defeated Barrhaven Broadway Blues 3-0 in GOFL play in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday night.

Andy Barber had the win for the 'Trics, facing just one batter over the minimum and allowing only one hit. Paul Ceppi threw well for Barrhaven, taking the loss, also throwing a one hitter.

The Electric scored two in the bottom of the second. Derek Barber lead off with a walk but was put out at second when Michael Cavanagh hit into a fielder's choice. Jeff Cavanagh then reached on an error, and MCav moved to third. JCav then stole second to put two in scoring position, as Neil Murphy's 2RBI double to right - the only West Carleton hit of the night - scored both Cavs.

The only other run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth. Andy Barber was hit by a pitch and Trevor Barton and Jeff Barber both walked to load the bases. After a strikeout, Mike Cavanagh's ground ball was quickly played by Jordan Adams at shortstop to get the out at the plate. However, a subsequent walk to Jeff Cavanagh scored another to make it 3-0. A line drive to second ended the inning.

Andy Barber threw very well in earning the Caveman's Choice as player of the game, fanning 17 batters, including the first 12 men he faced.  Trevor Power had the lone hit, an infield single, for the Blues.
