Kars and WC Electric tie at 2 on Friday
The Kars Aces and the West Carleton Electric played on Friday night in Fitzroy Harbour, ending in a 2-2 tie.
Following a Squirt game between Micksburg and West Carleton, a decent crowd was on hand to watch the Aces and Electric square off in a GOFL make up game.
Steve Cavanagh went the distance for West Carleton while Cory Alkerton had a complete game for Kars.
The Aces scored in the top of the first. Kristian Knapp used his speed to reach on a misplayed grounder. He stole second base and moved to third on a ground out. After a strikeout, Chad Milne's single scored Knapp to put the Aces up 1-0.
Kars added another run to their lead in the second when Matt Alkerton hit a high fly ball to left that just cleared the fence to count as a homer and make it 2-0 for the Aces.
Fitzroy finally responded in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. Neil Murphy led off with a triple to centre-left that just dropped in between the fielders. Jeff Cavanagh then reached on an misplayed ground ball, but Murphy was held at third. After Cavanagh took second uncontested, Steve Cavanagh hit a sac fly to centre that scored Murphy. Later in the inning, a single by Dave Bahm cashed JCav to even the game at 2-2.
Kars threatened in the top of seven when Lukas Kamps singled with one out and left fielder Brad Porter moved him to second on a sac bunt. But the next batter's shallow fly ball to left was caught by a blogger to end the inning.
When WC Electric when three up three down in the seventh, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Caveman's choice is split between the pitchers, as they both threw well limiting their opponents to two runs each.
