Kars Aces and Manotick Blitz tie - twice (from Wednesday)

Info from Chad Milne

The Kars Aces and Manotick Taylor's Blitz met up for a doubleheader on Wednesday night in Manotick after the games originally scheduled for Tuesday in North Gower had to be moved due to diamond issues which involved a dog being shocked (seriously).

Kars 3 Blitz 3
The first game of the evening ended in a 3-3 draw. Brad Porter threw for Kars while Jamie Blakely and Derick Bulley were on the slab for Manotick.

Kars 14 Blitz 14
After battling for over 2 hours in their first game, Manotick Blitz and Kars Aces struggled for more than 2.5 hours in the back end of their Wednesday night doubleheader in Manotick. The Blitz fought back from a huge 1st inning deficit, finally tying the game in the 6th inning. The slugfest ended in a 14-14 draw.

Cory Alkerton started for the Aces and Brad Porter finished. Shannon Borho went the distance for the Blitzos.

In the top of the 1st, Kars sent 11 batters to the plate exploding for 8 runs, highlighted by a Matt Alkerton grand slam and a Kristian Knapp 3-run home run - his second hit of the inning.

The Blitz got 2 runs back in the bottom of the 1st, but Kars scored another run in the top of the 2nd on a solo home run from Chad Milne.

The Blitz stormed back in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring 6 times.

With their huge 1st inning lead almost gone, ahead 9-8 in the top of the 3rd, the Aces scored 3 times on Knapp`s second 3-run homer of the game, giving him 6 rbi`s after 3 innings. Kars added 2 more runs in the top of the 4th on Jeff Hopkins well-placed double that landed right on the left field line.

Trailing 14-8 in the bottom of the 4th, the Blitz wouldn`t go away, putting up 4 more runs to cut the Kars lead to 14-12.

After a scoreless 5th inning, the Blitz completed the comeback in the bottom of the 6th, scoring 2 times to tie the game at 14.

Both teams went down in order in the 7th, finally putting an end to one ugly game of fastpitch.

Jon Ferguson had a homer for the Blitz.
