Elkland Labour Day - bracket now posted - ONE MORE SLEEP update
One more sleep before the Durk Sherman Classic in Elkland. This means a few things:
1) I am looking forward to getting there tomorrow. I can't wait for that feeling when we drive into the ballpark for the first time, looking forward to a weekend of fastball and fun.
2) Blogging will be on hold until Monday. While they do have the Internet in Elkland, I won't have access. And if even if I didn't I wouldn't be updating the blog as I need some sober second thought before posting anything about the event.
3) Like every year, there are all kinds of rumours about what pitchers are going to show and with what teams they will be pitching. Should be interesting to see who is throwing for who.
I have also heard some insider information that the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will likely be making an appearance in Elkland this weekend. That means have your ID ready and if you are under 21, don't be drinkin' inside the ball park. The ESA needs their liquor permit! As well, the folks at the Moose may be looking for your identification as well.

Elkland Labour Day, the Durk Sherman Classic, is almost upon us once again. This year's 61st edition promises to be another great event, with 16 teams on hand to play ball, visit the Moose, eat chicken and enjoy one of the finest fastpitch softball tournaments on the planet.
The tournament bracket has now been posted, with one game Friday night and play continuing until the finals on Monday.
There are four teams attending from eastern Ontario. GOFL clubs Carp I4C Victory and West Carleton Electric will once again be in Elkland. The Greenbush Generals from the North Leeds league also return for the 30+ year in a row. New this year are the Kanata Storm, made up of players from the GOFL and Glen Cairn leagues.
The blog won't have regular updates from Elkland - I have other things to do down there - but once I am back I will have full coverage and of course the Memories of Elkland annual favourite post.
