West Carleton Electric finish 2 and 2 at OASA Men's B Provincials (with update)

Fitzroy Harbour West Carleton Electric, combined with several players from the Barrhaven Broadway Blues, finished with a 2-2 record at the OASA Men's B provincial tournament in Frankford this past weekend. WC Electric were defending champions, winning the title in 2012 in Sudbury, but failed to make it to Sunday competition this year, playing four games on Saturday.

9am: Enterprise 8 Fitzroy Harbour 4
The Electric opened up with a loss to the Enterprise A's, which set off a tough schedule. Enterprise won 8-4, with Jordan Macdonald earning the win and Steve Cavanagh taking the loss with relief from Paul Ceppi. Jon Daley and Jeff Cavanagh both had two RBIs for Fitzroy.

11am: Fitzroy Harbour 3 Fenelon Falls 2
After giving up two runs in the first inning, Jason Smith settled in and threw 16Ks to earn the victory for the Electric 3-2 over the The Lakes from Fenelon Falls. Dave Lembke took the loss for the Falls. Trevor Power had a solo home run for Fitzroy and Jon Daley had a sacrifice fly RBI to tie the game. The game was won in dramatic fashion as Trevor Wood went in to pinch hit in the bottom of the seventh as the first batter of the inning and drove the first pitch he saw over the centrefield fence for the walk off win.

3pm: Fitzroy Harbour 10 Frankford 2
WC Electric won 10-2 in six innings over the hosts Frankford Danford & Sons Contracting, with Paul Ceppi earning the win and Adam Danford taking the loss with relief from Brandon Smith. Jon Daley scored three times and Trevor Wood had a triple, single and double, with 2RBIs for Fitzroy. Neil Murphy, Trevor Power, Dave Bahm and Jeff Cavanagh also had RBIs.

9pm: North Fred 8 Fitzroy Harbour 3
In their fourth game of the day, WC Electric needed a win to move on but fell to the North Fred Kings 8-3. Dale Dowdall went the distance for North Fred, while Jason Smith took the loss with relief from Steve Cavanagh. Steve Cavanagh hit a three run homer for Fitzroy in the second inning. However North Fred scored four in the third and four in the fourth, capitalizing on some miscues by the Electric defense to come back for the win.

The North Fred Kings won three straight games on Sunday to take the OASA Men's B title, beating Pickering, Enterprise (bronze) and Colbourne (silver).
