West Carleton Electric and Stittsville tie at 6

The Stittsville 56ers staged a seventh inning comeback to tie West Carleton Electric 6-6 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League action on Tuesday night in Fitzroy Harbour.

Jeff Barber threw for West Carleton while Darren Featherstone pitched for Stittsville with both chuckers going the distance.

Fitzroy put four runs across in the third to take a lead. With two out, Mike Cavanagh hit his second double of the night. Jeff Cavanagh then reached on an error to put runners on the corners. Steve Cavanagh's single scored Mike, followed by Derek Barber's triple off the monster in right which scored the Cavanagh brothers. D Barber then touched home on Dave Bahm's single.

Stittsville wasn't long responding as they pushed three across in the top of the fourth. With one out, after a walk to Ben Giggliotti, Featherstone reached on a fielder's choice. A single by Dan Bradley and a walk by Trevor Scott loaded the bases. Adam Smith's grounder to short looked like a potential double play to end the inning, but WC only got one out on the play and Featherstone scored. Third baseman Dan Konkle then hit an RBI single that scored Bradley from third and Smith came all the way around from first to score when the throw from the outfield was offline.

The Trics scored a run in the fifth. Steve Cavanagh reached on a passed ball third strike with one out, and was moved to second on Derek Barber's single to left. After a ground out, Neil Murphy's single scored SCav.

WC put up an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to push the score to 6-3. Jeff Barber singled, moved to second on an passed. When the next batter ground out to short, Barber attempted to reach third and throw from first was misplayed allowing him to score.

The 56ers tied it up in the top of the seventh. Konkle reached on misplayed ground ball but was erased at second on Mike Barrett's ground out. Dustin Seymour's infield hit put two men on for lead off hitter John Craig who launched a homer to tie things up at 6. Barber got out of the inning with a strikeout and grounder.

When the Electric were shut down three up three down by Featherstone in the seventh, the game ended tied.
