Harbour Ball happenings

As frequently documented on this blog, the Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League (affectionately known to all as "Harbour Ball") is a ten team recreational fastball league where weird and wacky stuff happens.

Tonight in Harbour Ball, I witnessed:

- A hard hit ball hit over the head of the right fielder, who scrambled back to the fence to retrieve the ball.....and threw it over to the centre fielder. A new way to hit the cut off I suppose.

- A pitcher who cut his sleeves off his league issued t-shirt (as he does every year).

- A base umpire wearing a sweater and jacket despite it being about 22C at game time.

- A plate umpire who, when after making no indication when a ball hit down the third base line was either fair or foul made the uncommon "I am not sure" call, after which it was determined by consensus of both teams that it was a foul ball.

- A player who patrolled left field in a pair of cowboy boots. Seriously, cowboy boots. Ball cap, league issued shirt, ball pants, belt....and cowboy boots. Solid uni.

Gotta love Harbour Ball.
