Kanata Pirates take game one of the series - NOW WITH DETAILS

The Kanata Pirates took a one game to none lead in their Greater Ottawa Fastball League best of five playoff series with a 10-0 win over the Micksburg Twins on Thursday night in Carp.

Trevor Lahey had the win, throwing a no-hitter and only walking one batter while striking out twelve. Matt McIntyre took the loss with relief from Jamey Mick.

Derick Bulley had a strong night at the plate for the Pirates, going 2 for 3 with a home run and six runs batted in.

The Kanata Pirates hosted the Micksburg Twins in Carp last night.  Trevor Lahey started for the Pirates and Matt McIntyre started for the Twins.

 

Derick Bulley hit a 3-run homer for the Pirates in the bottom of the first inning driving in Kevin Shonfield and Marcel Mondoux.

 

The Pirates scored 3 more in the bottom of the second inning on a walk by Kevin Williams, a double by Lindsay Medynski, a single by Marcel Mondoux and an RBI fielder’s choice by Derick Bulley.

 

Four runs came in for the Pirates in the bottom of the third.  Ryan Mitts hit a one-out double.  Lindsay Medynski followed with a two-out single to knock in Mitts.  Jordan Adams walked and Kevin Shonfield singled to load the bases.  Marcel Mondoux worked a bases loaded walk to score Medynski.  Then Jamey Mick came on in relief for the Twins.  Derick Bulley finished the scoring with a single knocking in his fifth and sixth RBIs of the game.

 

Pirate’s pitcher, Trevor Lahey, was the Caveman Player of the Game.  He shut down the opposing batters pitching a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts.
