West Carleton Electric wins 2-0 in Micksburg

West Carleton Electric defeated the Micksburg Twins 2-0 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play on Thursday night in a game presented by TVCogeco. The game was well played defensively by both teams and took less than 90 minutes to complete.

Andy Barber earned the win, tossing a three hitter. Corey Costello took the loss allowing only six hits.

With the teams trading a few hits on both sides, the score remained tied at 0-0 after three and a half innings.

In the bottom of the fourth, Corey Costello lead off for Micksburg. Working a full count, Costello stroked a change up off the fence in right field for a stand up triple. He was stranded however as Barber struck out the next three batters to end the threat.

The Electric scored their first run in the fifth. Dave Bahm hit a sharp single to right with one out. After a strikeout, Trevor Barton's triple scored Big Davey from first.

West Carleton scored an insurance run in the sixth. Michael Cavanagh tripled to start the inning, and scored on Shawn Rebertz's sacrifice fly to right field (which actually was actually dropped allowing him to reach base).

With Barber striking out 11 of the final 12 Micksburg batters, the Electric held on for the 2-0 victory.
