Kars defeats Micksburg in FWS, Porter throws no-hitter

The Kars Aces defeated the Micksburg Twins in Friday night action at the Greater Ottawa Fastball League Final Weekend Showdown event in Stittsville.

Brad Porter earned the win, tossing a no-hitter for Kars. Joran Graham took the loss, allowing only two hits.

Kars scored both their runs in the first inning. Kristian Knapp lead off the game with a very unorthodox triple. His hit was extremely high but never actually left the infield. It dropped in and by the time the ball was fielded the speedy Knapp was on third. An infield single by Cory Morrison scored Knapp. Chad Milne then reached on an error and runners were on the corners. A sacrifice fly by Matt Alkerton scored Morrison to give Kars a 2-0 lead which never changed.

Porter got in a little trouble in the bottom of the first, walking Joran Graham and Chad Costello with two out, A pop up to short got the Aces out of the inning.

With no further hits in the game, Kars won 2-0.

This means Saturday at the Final Weekend Showdown will be as follows:

G3: 9 am (Diamond 1): Kars Aces vs I4C Victory - undefeated game
G4: 9 am (Diamond 2): Quyon Flyers vs Micksburg Twins - loser eliminated
G5: 11 am: Winner G4 vs Loser G3
G6: 1 pm: Winner G5 vs Winner G3 (FINAL)
G7: 3 pm: if necessary game
