Kars evens the series with West Carleton Electric
The Kars Aces evened their best-of-five series with West Carleton Electric by winning 3-0 on Monday night in Manotick, setting up a game five on Wednesday to see who earns the trip to the Final Weekend Showdown in Stittsville on the weekend.
Brad Porter had the shutout win, allowing only five hits. Andy Barber took the loss.
Kars scored two in the first to take an early lead. Kristian Knapp lead off with a double, then scored on a triple by Nick Ellis which was deep to centre. After a pop up, Ellis took home on a misplayed ground ball.
The only other run of the game was in the fifth for Kars. Alex Balswall singled down the first base line to start the inning. Balswall then took second on a wild pitch. A bunt single by Lukas Kamps put runners on the corners. After a strike out, Knapp's fielder's choice (which put out Kamps) scored Balswall to make it 3-0.
In the sixth, West Carleton had men on second and third with one out after hits by Jeff Barber and Michael Cavanagh, but Porter got two strikeouts to end the threat.
Game five will be played in Fitzroy Harbour on Wednesday September 10 at 8:30 pm to determine who advances to the Final Weekend Showdown.
