Micksburg wins on Friday against West Carleton

Micksburg hosted two games on Friday night - a peewee boys game to start, followed by a Greater Ottawa Fastball League match up.

In the kids' game, Micksburg beat West Carleton 6-1 in a well-played event, with several great plays on both sides. Winning pitcher was John Enright (mark my words, remember that name) and he had help from Joseph Mick. Kevin Bird pitched for WC and had relief from Carson James.

The GOFL game saw the Micksburg Twins win 3-1 over Fitzroy Harbour West Carleton Electric. Corey Costello was the winning pitcher and Andy Barber took the loss, as both throwers went the distance.

Micksburg got a run in the bottom of the first inning. Joran Graham singled with one out, and moved to second when Jamey Mick's grounder was misplayed. Chad Costello's single brought in Graham to make it 1-0.

Back-to-back solo home runs by Graham and Corey Costello in the third inning put the Twins up 3-0.

Barber hit a two out triple in the sixth to give WC some life, but he was stranded on base as the next batter popped out.

West Carleton got on the board with a solo homer by Steve Cavanagh to start the seventh, but after a subsequent single to Dave Bahm, Costello closed things off for the 3-1 win.
