Twins beat Flyers 6-4

from Scott Conroy

The Micksburg Twins defeated the Quyon Flyers in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play by a final of 6-4 on Wednesday night in Micksburg. Joran Graham came in as relief of Corey Costello to earn the win. Trevor Lahey took the loss after coming in as relief of Matt Greer.

The Twins hit the ball early. In the bottom of the first, Joran Graham took the first pitch he saw over the fence in left field for a solo shot. Two pitches later Jamey Mick did the same thing to put the Twins up 2-0.

Micksburg’s bats were still hot in the second inning. Matt McIntyre lead off with a single before Quinton Rook did the same. McIntyre’s heads up base running allowed him to slide into home safely to make it 3 on the board for the Twins.

Jamey Mick kept his hot stick going in the third as he hit his second homerun of the game.

Micksburg pulled ahead in the bottom of the sixth. With the game tied 4-4 Chad Costello hit a one out single. McIntyre then laid a sacrifice bunt to put Costello in scoring position, setting the stage for Quinton Rooks’ RBI triple. Rook would score on a Kyle Jackson single.
