West Carleton beats Micksburg 4-3
West Carleton Electric beat the Micksburg Twins 4-3 in Greater Ottawa Fastball League play in Fitzroy Harbour on Tuesday night.
Cole Bolton had his first career win for the Electric on the slab, while Joran Graham took the loss.
The home team scored in the first. Bolton lead off with a walk and scored all the way from first when Trevor Barton's sac bunt was misplayed.
The Twins evened things in the bottom of the second. Quinton Rook walked and moved to third on two consecutive wild pitches. Bolton got the next two batters to strike out, but Brandon Jackson pushed a single through the infield to score Rook and tie it at 1-1.
Micksburg took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third. Matt McIntyre walked, as did Graham. Jamey Mick's single scored McIntyre. Chad Costello then walked to load the bases with none out. After a strikeout, Kyle Jackson's grounder put Cozzy out at second but scored Graham. A fly ball ended the inning.
West Carleton got one back in the bottom half of the third. Mitch Taylor walked and was put out on Bolton's fielder's choice. Bolton took second on a wild pitch and scored on Michael Cavanagh's RBI double to left.
The Electric scored the go ahead runs in the fifth. Neil Murphy hit an infield single. Taylor bunted and reached base when the throw hit him in the back. After a line out, Barton singled to score Murphy. Cavanagh then hit a grounder, which ended up scoring Taylor.
