Stittsville evens series with 10-8 win over West Carleton

The Stittsville 56ers evened their best-of-five Greater Ottawa Fastball League series at 1-1 with a 10-8 win over West Carleton Electric on Wednesday night at the Grove.

Kyle Olson got the win going the distance for the home team while Cole Bolton took the loss in relief of Andy Barber. Steve Cavanagh threw to one batter in relief.

West Carleton got out to an early 7-0 lead. Derek Barber, Jeff Barber and Bolton all had home runs for the Electric.

A three run shot by Dan Jessiman in the fourth narrowed the score to 7-3. After another Stittsville run, the Electric pushed the lead to 8-4 on an RBI single by Neil Murphy in the fifth.

However, a four run inning for the 56ers, including two more RBIs by Jessiman, tied things at 8.

In the bottom of the sixth Luc D'Entremont, with the bases loaded and two out, drove a ball up the middle that hit the pitcher's glove and blooped out into right field, scoring two to get the 56ers ahead.

When the Electric couldn't respond in the top of the seventh, the 56ers tied the series at 1-1.

Game three will be Thursday night at 8:30pm in Fitzroy Harbour.
