West Carleton Electric finished in fifth place at the 13-team Elkland Labour Day "Durk Sherman Classic" men's open fastpitch tournament in Pennsylvania.

The Electric opened with a loss, reeled off three straight wins, then lost on Monday morning to finish 3-2. See below for links to stats for each game.

East Coast Renegades (Long Island, NY) 8 West Carleton Electric 6
West Carleton lost a winable game on Saturday at noon, coming up short as Steve Cavanagh took the loss in relief of Jeff Barber. Andy Barber - who was catching - hit a homer, as did Chad Milne. Nick Ellis went 3 for 4. Evan Lydaker was the winning pitcher.

West Carleton Electric 5 Knoxville, PA Bellys 4
WC squeaked out a close win over a scrappy team of youngsters who had some veteran help at pitcher and catcher. Andy Barber earned the pitching win striking out 15, while Marvelous Marv Flynn and Lucas Hahn threw for the locals. Dean "Guns" Vanzile hit the walk off single in the bottom of the seventh, driving in Matt McIntyre who had doubled. Nick Ellis hit two triples and Jeff Cavanagh was 2 for 3 for the Electric.

West Carleton Electric 6 Greenbush, ON Generals 4
Sunday afternoon saw the two eastern Ontario teams in attendance square off. The Electric got out to a 6-0 lead after three and held on for the win. Andy Barber got the win and Luke Severson took the loss. Jeff Barber - who was catching for Andy - went 2 for 2 with a walk, 3 RBIs and hit a two run homer. Milne and Neil Murphy had RBIs for WC. Todd Brayton went 3 for 3 for Greenbush and his son Jake went 2 for 3.

West Carleton Electric 10 Dick's Deli (Williamsport, PA) 1
Immediately following, the Electric got another win with Jeff Barber throwing a three-hitter over the five inning mercy rule shortened game. JBarb also had a monster game at the plate going 3 for 3 with a homer and 5 RBIs. Nick Ellis went 2 for 3 and a pair of RBIs. Trevor Hall took the loss for the Dick's.

CPI (Oswego, NY) 9 West Carleton Electric 6
The 3-1 record moved the Electric on to Monday to face off against CPI, the champs at the Gil Read and the ISC II event in Illinois. Andy Barber took the loss while Jeff Mayer went the distance for CPI. The Oswego team was up 6-2 at one point, but West Carleton rallied for a run in the sixth and three in the seventh to tie it. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied Eduardo Leonardo lead off with a double, prompting WC to intentionally walk Sam Roes. The next batter popped up, but Josh Buckley hit a walk off homer to left field that just stayed fair to win the game. For WC, Jeff Barber had another homer in this game, as did Andy Barber. Neil Murphy had two RBIs.
