Shawville and Quebec U23 play doubleheader

A team of local league players - the Shawville Scrappers - played host to the Quebec U23 provincial junior team in a doubleheader on Saturday in Shawville, QC.

In the first game, Team Quebec won 9-4. It was a close, back and forth game, with the score 5-4 after six complete innings, but four unearned runs for the Juniors in the top of the seventh widened the lead.

Gabriel Desilets was the winning pitcher, while Matt Greer took the loss. Greer had a homer for Shawville, while Shawn Laframboise was 3 for 4 with two homers for the home team. Samuel Desmarais and Anthony Bouchard had homers for the Juniors.

The second game saw the teams tie 1-1. Trevor Lahey threw very well for Shawville, allowing the only run in the first inning. Guillaume Fournier also had a solid game pitching for the Juniors.

Marc-Andre Villeneuve had a strong game at the plate for Team Quebec, while Marc "Kayser" Lavigne had a solo homer for Shawville in the fifth.

Team Quebec will be facing the Micksburg Twins in another doubleheader on Sunday in the 'Burg with games at 11 am and 1 pm.
