Rebels and Brewers win Wednesday night GOFL playoff games
In Greater Ottawa Fastball League playoff action on Wednesday night in Manotick, the Orleans Rebels and Manotick Brewers chalked up wins.
The first game of the night had the fifth place Rebels winning 12-2 in six innings over the fourth place Ottawa Valley As.
Jeff Barber had the start for the Rebels but had to come out due to injury. Andy Barber earned the win in relief. Adam Rueckwald took the loss with relief from Ryland Hill.
The game was 3-1 for Orleans after five complete, but they put up nine runs in top of the sixth to seal the victory.
Orleans will play first place Kars Aces at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Manotick.
The night cap saw the Manotick Brewers prevail 3-2 over West Carleton Electric.
Luc D'Entremont had the win. He struck out 16 and only allowed four hits. Matt Greer took the loss; he also only allowed four hits and he had 14 Ks.
Manotick scored in the first. Ty Alexander walked, stole second, got to third on a passed ball and took home on a wild pitch.
WC scored two in the third when Greer homered after Neil Murphy walked.
The Brewers tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Tyler Beaulieu singled and scored on Alexander's triple.
With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Beaulieu hit a high fly that dropped in for a double. He moved to third on a ground out, and ended up scoring to end the game on a pitch that got away.
Ryan Clare also had a single for Manotick, while Greer was 2 for 2 with a walk and Hugh Murray 2 for 3 for West Carleton.
Manotick will go to Micksburg on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to face the Twins.
The As and Electric will be on the loser side of the bracket and wait to see who their next opponents are based on Thursday's results.
