Bucks beat Royals in Shawville playoffs

The Gannon / Blackburn Electric Bucks edged the Young’s Appliance Royals 2-0 in Shawville Men's Fastpitch League playoff action on Sunday night.

It was another well pitched game at the Shawville R.A., as Joran Graham earned the win with a two hitter, and Gregg Garrity only allowed four hits and struck out 11 in a losing cause.

The Royals threatened in the top of the third. Julien Gagnon and Ron Laronde got on with bases on balls with two outs, and advanced 60 feet on a wild pitch. Gagnon attempted to score on a wild pitch but was put out by the catcher on a close play to end the inning.

The Bucks scored their two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Graham doubled, and was plated by a Scott Conroy double. With Conroy substituted for the two out catcher rule, the runner took home on a wild pitch.

The Royals had another great chance to score in the sixth. Veteran Ron Laronde doubled to start the inning. After a strike out, an infield error and a walk loaded the bases. However, Graham got the next two batters to strike out.

Andy McIntyre had two hits for the Bucks. Garrity also had a hit for the Royals.

Next games are on Tuesday. The Bucks will face the Brewers at 7 p.m. to determine which team advances to the finals, while the Royals take on the Athletics at 9 p.m. as part of the double knockout bracket.
