Bucks advance to finals, Royals to play Brewers in Shawville semi-finals

The Bucks beat the Brewers and the Royals beats the Athletics in Shawville Men's Fastpitch League games on Tuesday night.

The first game of the night saw the Bucks win 14-5 over the Brewers in the undefeated game to advance to the finals of the double knockout bracket. Joran Graham earned the win while Adam Rueckwald and Matt Greer shared pitching duties for the BrewCrew, who were caught by four different catchers.

The Bucks were up 6-1 at one point but the Brewers battled back to make the score to 6-5. However, the Bucks piled on the runs to take the game in the late stages. Ryan Nugent, Andrew McIntyre and Scott Conroy all had homers for the winners.

The late game saw a much tighter match, with the Royals edging the Athletics 3-2 in eight innings. Gregg Garrity earned the win and Trevor Lahey threw well but took the loss.

Garrity homered to lead off the first for the Royals.

The teams were tied after seven regulation innings, bringing the tie-breaker rule into effect. In the top of the eighth, Lahey drove in a run to make it 2-1 for the Athletics. However, in the bottom of eight, Cavy Cavanagh hit an RBI single to tie the game, and a bases loaded hit by Darron Barr drove in the winning run.

The Royals will play the Brewers to determine which team will face the Bucks in the final. Game times are to be confirmed.
