Harbour Ball playoff classic

It was a Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League playoff classic last night as West Carleton Electric U17 won 8-7 over Bren Electric in eight innings to take the first game of the best of three semi-final.

Blake Bramburger and Gabe Brown pitched for the Junior Trics while Adam Rueckwald and Mitch Taylor pitched for Bren.

West Carleton jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first but Bren responded with three in the bottom.

After six innings, Bren was up 6-5. Down to their last out in the top of the seventh, Will Potten walked for the U17s, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a Finn Barton single to tie it up.

When Bren couldn't score in the bottom of seven, the game went to an eighth inning.

A clutch 2 RBI single by Bramburger put WC up 8-6, and Bren could only respond with one run in the bottom, and the U17s won the game 8-7.

In other Harbour Ball playoff action, Baird Carpentry defeated Clean Cut Construction 7-2 to take a 1-0 series lead.

Action will resume next Wednesday, game times to be finalized.
