Napanee finishes second at U17 nationals in Saskatoon
The Napanee Express won silver at the U17 Boys' Softball Canada Championship in Saskatoon on Sunday, finishing with an 8-3 record.
The team finished third in pool play and as such did not have a double life (only top two) but they won all their playoff round games until they met gold medalists Chatsworth Longhorns in the final. Wilmot Thunder won bronze.
Two GOFL players were on the Express. Zach Branchaud of the Manotick Brewers had some key hits for Napanee throughout the week. Conner Hopper, a pick up for Napanee from West Carleton Electric U17 (who also plays for the men's WC team) lead the tournament in home runs (4) and RBIs (17) and played right field, catcher and first base.
