Baird Carpentry wins game one of Harbour Ball final
Baird Carpentry won game one of the Fitzroy Harbour Men's Fastball League final best of three series with a 3-1 victory over Bren Electric on Wednesday night. It was a pitchers' duel that only took an hour and twenty four minutes.
Bren scored one in the bottom of the first but that was it for them. Baird scored three runs in the top of the third and that was enough for the win. Baird captain and second baseman John Sullivan made a diving stab on a ground ball up the middle which saved a run in the bottom of the third.
Rory Burns started for the Carpenters while Ryland Hill closed the door with four shutout innings. Adam Rueckwald and Mitch Taylor threw for the Electricians.
Game 2 will be scheduled next week, date to be confirmed.
