Micksburg wins game one of GOFL West final

The Micksburg Twins won the first game of the best of three Greater Ottawa Fastball League west division final by a score of 9-1 over the Quyon Flyers on Thursday night in the 'Burg.

Joran Graham was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits in five innings of work. Graham also hit a homer. Trevor Lahey took the loss.

They Flyers took an early lead in top of the first when Matt Greer's RBI single drove in Lane McMurtry who had reached on a dropped third strike and stole second.

The Twins responded immediately in their half of the first. Andy McIntyre tripled and scored on Matt McIntyre's single. A walk to Graham put runners on first and second. When there was a wild pitch, both runners attempted to advance. Quyon got Graham in a run down, but he evaded the tag, M. McIntrye scored, and Graham was safe at second. When Scott Conroy singled, Graham went to third, and he eventually scored on a Jared Steege sacrifice play to left field. Micksburg was up 3-1 after one complete.

The bottom of the third saw the home team add three runs. Matt McIntyre singled, then scored on Graham's two run homer. Conroy singled, advanced to second on an error, took third on a ground out, and scored on Quentin Rook's RBI single to make it 6-1.

Micksburg put the run rule in effect in the bottom of the fourth. John Enright singled, then Andy McIntrye hit a ground rule double. Matt McIntyre doubled to drive in two runs. After the Flyer chose to intentionally walk Graham, and error allowed McIntyre to score to make it 9-1.

The Flyers got an infield hit from Dennis McCleary in the bottom of the fifth, but they didn't score any runs and the game ended by the run rule.
