West Carleton wins Harbour Days Classic
West Carleton Electric won the annual Harbour Days Classic game in Fitzroy Harbour on Thursday night, defeating the Manotick Brewers 3-1 in a Greater Ottawa Fastball League game played in front of a good crowd.
Adam Rueckwald earned the win with a four hitter. Cory Baldwin threw for Manotick.
The game started off with a moment of silence for Hugh Murray, a West Carleton Electric player who died over the off season.
Manotick scored their only run of the game in the first. Jack Becker singled to lead off the game, stole second, and moved to third on an overthrow. He scored on Ryan Clare's ground out.
West Carleton scored all their three runs in the bottom of the first. Trevor Barton led off with a walk. Chris Costello singled to put two on. A misplayed ground ball hit by Neil Murphy loaded the bases. Steve Cavanagh's sacrifice fly to centre plated Barton, followed by a Sean Lecuyer double which scored two.
Baldwin got out of several jams in this game as the Electric stranded 10 runners over six innings.
