WC wins Harbour Days Classic

West Carleton Electric won the Harbour Days Classic as part of Greater Ottawa Fastball League action on Thursday night. The Harbour Days summer festival in Fitzroy Harbour is held traditionally the first weekend in July each year and features the local woman's softball league games followed by a GOFL match up. 

This year's game saw WC defeat Los Caballos 9-2 in front of a decent crowd, with most spectators on the deck with a refreshment in hand. 

Adam Rueckwald was the winning pitcher while Matt McKay took the loss.

West Carleton scored a run in the bottom of the first. Colton Lecuyer walked, took second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a flyout to the right, and scored on Dylan Rorwick's ground ball to short.

Los Caballos took the lead on two-run homer by Felipe Morales in the top of the third, driving in McKay who reached on an infield single.

The 'Trics put up five runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead. Sean Lecuyer singled with one out, moved to second on a wild pitch and moved to third when Chris Costello reached on an error. A sharply hit double by Neil Murphy scored two, and he moved to third on the throw home. Gabe Brown then singled to score Murph. After Gabe Brown moved to third on two wild pitches, Owen Brown walked and stole second. Colton Lecuyer then reached first on a passed ball third strike to load the bases. A walk to Trevor Barton scored Gabe Brown, and Owen Brown later took home on a wild pitch to make it 6-2.

The home team ended the game on the run rule in the bottom of the sixth. Conner Hopper led off with a single, and Colton Lecuyer reached on an error. A single by Barton drove in two, followed by a triple by Rorwick to end the game at 9-2.
