Orleans at 3-1 record in Midget Canadians in Sask
from Jeff Langford
Orleans Rebels lost their first game at the Midget Championships on Monday evening by a score of 14-2 to the Port Alberni Blazers. The Blazers were ranked number 2 out of BC, but they remain undefeated after 4 games through Tuesday at the Midget Championships. Nick Bowman took the loss for Orleans with some relief from Eric Lafleur. Matt Alkerton had 2 of the Orleans 6 hits going 2-3 with 1 run. Brian Friesen and Kurtis Summers had the 2 Orleans RBIs.
Orleans bounced back on Tuesday beating the Host team, the Prince Albert AallCann Astros by a score of 4-2. Chad Hargrove got the win with 6 strikeouts, and helped his own cause with a 2 run triple in the 1st. Matt Bowman had a solo shot in the 4th and Matt Alkerton drove in Dan Laplante in the 5th to close out the scoring. Both teams put a lot of balls in play so the fans got to see a lot of good defensive play.
On Wednesday, Orleans will play the Calgary Rockies in the morning, and the Selkirk Combines from Ontario in the afternoon.
