Newboro wins North Leeds playoffs, North Fred leads Loughborough league finals

September 11, 2006 - -- The series went 5 games and both teams had mercy wins but Newboro outlasted Greenbush last night to win the league championship. Newboro won game 1, 8 - 1, Greenbush won games 2 and 3, 9 - 8, and 10 - 4 respectively, Newboro won game 4, 11 - 3 and also won last night 12 - 8 to win the series 3 - 2.

September 9, 2006 - Blake Orr led off the game with a home run, but the North Fredericksburgh Kings responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning Thursday night, en route to a 5-2 win over Sydenham in the opening game of the Loughborough Fastball League final series.

The Kings will take a 1-0 lead into the second game of the best-of-seven series Monday in Sydenham. A two-run home run by Mike Finn was the highlight of North Fred's first-inning uprising. Bryan Brooks collected the pitching win, while Mike Halligan took the loss.
