Quyon defeats Blitz 5-3; 'Big Joe' hits another dinger
from Shawn Laframboise
Quyon Flyers defeated the Ottawa Blitz 5-3 in Quyon on Tuesday night.
Joran Graham started and pitched a complete game to get the victory for Quyon. Ryan Cox took the loss for the Blitz with relief from Derick Bulley. Graham also started the offense for the Flyers, hitting a ground ball to Cox with Luke Young on second. Cox then attempted to get Young at third but a little miscommunication allowed Young to score. That proved to be more costly than anticipated with Joseph "ZZ" McCleary taking Cox deep to right field for his league leading second homerun of the season, a two run shot, Flyers 3 Blitz 0.
After getting into a little trouble finding the strike zone in the middle of the game, Graham began to walk a few. Darron Barr knocked in the first Blitz run with a deep sacrifice fly to left field, Flyers 3 Blitz 1.
Steve McCord then added a two run home run off of Cox to extend the Flyers lead to 4. The Blitz took a charge near the end of the game and added a couple more runs however the deficit proved to be too much as the Flyers held on for the 5-3 victory.
