GOFL Showcase update

Here are the scores and information from the GOFL Showcase. This is not 'official', but based on my memory. However, it should be pretty close to reality. **With some updates**

Quyon 2 WC Electric 1
Matt Greer had the win and scored both runs for Quyon. Jim Ryan took the loss for WC in relief of Brad Porter. Both Quyon runs were unearned. Mike Cavanagh had a solo shot for Fitzroy.

Easton 2 Quyon 0 - halted due to rain in the bottom of third
Joran Graham was pitching for Quyon, Jeff Murphy was throwing for Easton. (Dan Konkle was away for the weekend in Niagara.) Not sure what will happen with this game - we will consult with the Prez.

Carp 11 Blitz 4
Neil Cooke had the win for I4C, while Jamie Blakely took the loss. Blakely had relief from Derick Bulley. The Blitz looked like they might strike for their first win of the year as the were up 4-2 after five and a half, but Carp scored 9 in the bottom of the sixth for the win.

Quyon 8 Manotick 4
Matt Greer pitched for the win for the Flyers, while Tony Riches took the loss for Manotick. Don't know too much about this one other than it seemed to take about two and a half hours to play.

Orleans 6 WC Electric 2
Chad Hargrove struck out 11 in the complete game win for the Gators. Bud Hanlon had the start and threw four innings for WC. Jim Ryan came in for the fifth with the score tied 2-2, but Orleans broke the game open with a pair of two-run homers in the sixth by Max Serre and Brendan Werthner. Brad Porter finished up the game for WC.

Team Easton 9 Blitz 8
The Blitz came close again in a slug-fest with Team Easton. Jeff Murphy had the win for Easton, while the Blitz used Jamie Blakely, Derick Bulley, and Duane Bromley on the slab. There were a lot of hits in this one, but Team Easton managed to scrape by and stay undefeated.

Carp 8 Manotick 1
Carp won their second game of the day, with Paul Ceppi getting the win. Trevor Lahey took the loss for Manotick. The sole Manotick run was on a Donny Cox solo HR.

WC Electric 2 Blitz 0
Brad Porter pitched a complete game 3 hitter to get the win for Fitzroy. Derick Bulley pitched well in a complete game for the Blitz. Beef Johnson stroked a solo home run for WC.

Carp 16 Orleans 3
Carp ran the table with three straight wins, all by big scores. Trevor Wood got the win for Victory, while Nick Bowman had the loss for Orleans and had relief from Eric Lafleur and Kurtis Summers. Carp had eight (no typo, 8) home runs in this game: Mike Money, Shawn Houle, Matt McNish (2), Brooks Paziuk, Trevor Wood, Paul Ceppi (2). If we kept records for this in the GOFL, I am sure this would be one. Matt McNish had four HRs on the day.

We got a little excited. It was eight home runs in the game not eleven. Must be something to do with the beer garden leading to exaggeration. Yes Matt McNish had two in the game but Paul Ceppi had two in the same inning! HR's in this game; Mike Money, Shawn Houle, Matt McNish (2), Brooks Paziuk, Trevor Wood, Paul Ceppi (2). As a team, we had 14 on the day. FYI, the final score in the game vs. the Blitz was 11-4 with I4C scoring nine in the bottom of the sixth. Just making the point for clarity and not to rub it in.

In the game against Carp, Nick Bowman of the Gators had relief from Eric Lafleur and Kurtis Summers. Matt Alkerton isn't a pitcher yet!
