Ottawa Blitz Fastball
Rumour has it Joe McCleary threw a gem at the RA on Monday, even striking out Ed Taylor's feared clean-up, Derick Bulley. 'Atta boy Joe !
I was going to mention that if anybody wants to go to http://www.joemcclearystruckoutderickbulley.com the site was activated last night.
I guess somebody beat me to it
Sorry Bulley!
Joe
Quyon and Manotick tied 2-2 Tuesday night in Quyon.
Joe hurt his hand getting jammed batting in the first last night. Serves him right for telling us the ferry ran until midnight (it goes until 11). Luckily it wasn`t his pitching hand and he was able to hold cold drinks later. Probably would have been fine if he used a DeMarini instead of a ComBat.
Quyon beat the Blitz 4-3 and 8-4 last night in the doubleheader.
Stittsville defeated Carp 3 - 2 last night ... So the standings as of today:
Stittsville 12 - 6 - 3 = 27
Easton 12 - 6 - 2 = 26
Carp 12 - 6 - 2 = 26
Quyon 12 - 7 - 2 = 26
Fitzroy 9 - 10 - 2 = 20
Manotick 7 - 9 - 4 = 18
Orleans 6 - 12 - 2 = 14
Blitz 3 - 17 - 1 = 7
Two remaining games on the sched tonight:
I4C vs Easton (Stittsville).
The winner takes first, loser takes 3rd, and in the unlikely event of a tie, Stittsville takes 1st, Easton 2nd, Carp 3rd.
Orleans vs Manotick (Orleans).
This game has no standings implications.
With a depleted line-up Carp I4C Victory beat Easton 6-5. Neil Cooke had the win for Carp and Dan Konkle had the loss for Ottawa Team Easton Thunder. Cooke also had two walks, scored a run and drove in a key run with a double to the fence. Al Read had a solo HR for Carp. Carp lead 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh but a Dave Tubman double, a Kevin Chevrier single, a Cory Morrison single and a Randy Peck sacrifice fly made it 6-5 for Carp with one out. Dan Konkle then singled and moved to second on a WP. John Peck popped out and Pat O'Connor walked to put the winning run at first before, with two strikes, Cooke induced Lukas Kamps to pop out to short for the final out of the game, giving the Victory the win and first place. In only its second year in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League (GOFL), Carp finishes first in the league and will face the Ottawa Blitz in the first round of the playoffs.

That should have read, "Cory Morrison triple". Sorry Spud.
