Easton 8 WC Electric 1
Team Easton scored five in the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule and defeat West Carleton Electric 8-1 on Wednesday night in Stittsville.
Dan Konkle had the pitching victory, while Bud Hanlon had the loss with relief from Brad Porter.
Todd Fraser started things off in the first with a solo homerun to put Easton up 1-0.
Dan Konkle and Kyle Olson singled in the second inning, and Konkle scored on a Cory Morrison single to put Easton up 2-0.
WC Electric scored in the top of the fourth to pull within one. Mike Cavanagh singled, Steve Cavanagh walked and Neil Murphy drove in Mike Cavanagh.
Easton regained their 2 run lead in the bottom of the frame. Lukas Kamps reached on an error, then Scott Marion hit a triple to cash him.
The game ended midway through the fifth when Easton batted nine men and scored 5 runs. Kevin Chevrier singled, then Fraser hit his second home run of the night. WC Eletric then changed pitches, removing Hanlon and bringing in Porter. After Dave Tubman reached on an error, Chad Milne hit an RBI double to score Tubby. Lukas Kamps then singled to score Milne. Porter struck out the next two batters, but then walked Olson. Morrison's double scord Kamps, invoking the mercy rule and ending the game.
