Stittsville beats Manotick 6-1 on Weds UPDATED
from Sam Oliver
The Stittsville 56ers defeated the Manotick Lomor Printers by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday night in Manotick. Dan Bradley pitched the complete game win for the 56ers allowing one run on 5 hits, 1BB, with 12Ks. Trevor Lahey took the loss, also going the distance allowing 6 runs on 7 hits, 4BB while striking out 6.
Stittsville jumped out to an early lead on the strength of a Ryan Bond home run which cashed John Craig who had tripled to start the first inning rally. Scott Parsons then hit his 3rd home run in as many nights to give the 56ers a 3 run lead.
Stittsville would add another run to the lead in the 3rd. Scott Herriot drew a lead off walk. With one away and Bond at the dish Herriot swiped 2nd, and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Bond hit a sharp come backer that Lahey couldn’t field cleanly which allowed Herriot to score, however Bond was retired at first.
The Printers got on the board in the 4th thanks to the Medynski brothers. Calvin drew a two out walk to start things and scored when brother Lindsay doubled over the left fielder's head.
The 56ers answered that run in their half of the 4th. Sam Oliver drew a one out walk which was followed by a Darren McCartney single. A Dan Bradley single would load the bases with one out. Oliver would score on a Ben Gigliotti fielder’s choice to the right side, and Lahey escaped further damage by striking out the next 56er batter to end the inning.
The last of the scoring came in the 6th inning. Darren McCartney’s second single of the game started the inning. Bradley then reached on error and Ben Gigliotti walked to load the bases. McCartney would score on a Scott Herriot sac fly, and the Printers once again escaped further damage as Lahey was able to induce an inning ending double play.
