Newboro takes lead in men's fastball
from the Brockville Recorder and Times
Newboro is in position to wrap up the North Leeds Men's Fastball League playoff championship.
After Lyn won the opening game of the best-of-five finals, Newboro bounced back with an 8-7 win late last week and then took a 5-4 victory here on Sunday night to lead the series 2-1.
In the sixth inning, with the score tied 4-4, Lyn had runners on first and third with just one out. Following a line drive to first base, and a dispute over the tag, the Lyn runner on third tried to steal home and was tagged out.
Jeff Rice earned the pitching win for Newboro. Matt McNish took the loss for Lyn.
Game four is set for Tuesday (tonight) in Lyn at 8:15 p.m. If a game five is needed, it will be played Thursday night in Newboro at 8:15 p.m.
