Cornwall Fastball League finals set

O'Neill vs. Navy for fastball title

Dan Loney's pair of homers and five RBI powered Navy Club to a 14-7 win over Yum Yum Chips in the deciding fifth game of the first-round Cornwall and District Men's Fastball League playoffs.

Loney also scored three runs.

Shawn O'Neill had a strong night at the plate, going 3-3 with a home run and five RBI.

Chris Nichol picked up the win after relieving Steve McGillis with Yum Yum leading 5-4 in the third inning. Nichol struck out 11 in his four-plus innings of work while contributing a solo home run at the plate.

Chris Lalonde scored twice and added two RBI. Chuck Wert counted for two runs and an RBI. McGillis (two), Randy McGillis, David Murphy and Scott Rogers also scored.

Troy Lalonde suffered the loss for Yum Yum despite picking up two RBI. Jason Woodside scored twice. Frank Marceau scored once and added two RBI. Paul Briffett, Scott Dumoulin, Brad Giroux and Brian Dufresne also scored. Pete Marion had an RBI.

Navy Club advances to the CDMFL championship for the fourth time in five seasons and will square off against O'Neill Taping & Painting.

It will be a rematch of the 2006 championship, which O'Neill won in five games.

The opener in the best-of-five series will take place Thursday tonight at King George Park.
