Glen Cairn League Men's Fastball League finals now set

The 2008 GCMFL finals will see Local Heroes face Murray Refrigeration in a three game series starting on Monday September 22nd. Game #2 is scheduled for Wednesday September 24th with the third game on the 29th if necessary.

Locals and Murrays were the top two teams in the regular season, both in terms of the standings and statistically. Local Heroes was the only team in the league to crack the century mark in runs scored over the 14 game schedule with an even 100; Murrays were second with 86 runs scored. They were also the two best defensive teams in the league with Locals giving up only 29 runs and Murrays 68.

The season series was split, with Murrays handing Locals their only defeat of the season in a 4-3 decision on June 9th. The rematch on August 5th turned out to be a disappointment with Murrays having to forfeit the game due to lack of players. The teams also met in the tournament championship which saw Local Heroes come from behind for a 5-3 win.

All of the games are scheduled to start at 7PM at the A.Y. Jackson diamond on Abbeyhill Road in Kanata.
