Trend Arlington League Finals have begun
from Wynn Fenwick
Ottawa, ON -- Game One of the Trend Arlington Men's Fastball League Championship final went tonight at the Bellman Drive field tonight at 7:30pm. The best of three final is a rematch of last year's championship series pitting Duguay Sports against Lone Star Texas Grill.
Duguay started off the first inning well when Bruce Thibodeau and Craig Casey scored on Benoit Boivin's 2-run single. Lone Star Texas Grill replied with four consecutive hits in the bottom of the first, scoring three powered by "Drifter" Greg Graham. Graham was two for two with a homer, a triple and four RBI. "Super" Dave Simmonds backstopped Art Henry as the pitcher scattered six hits over seven innings, striking out four without a walk. Pierre Boivin took the loss giving up five earned runs and nine hits in six innings as son Benoit Boivin caught him for the night. The hot corners supplied the stars tonight, with Duguay's Rick Casey made 5 putouts without an error including a tough short-hopper to start a 5-4-3 double play in the second. Despite an error, Graham made that back with two backhanded stabs for outs that Lone Star had no business getting.
Game Two goes Monday September 15 at 7:30 at 50 Bellman Drive off Greenbank near West Hunt Club Road in Ottawa, Ontario.
