Manotick beats Carp 5-1 - now with deets

from Tony Riches

Thursday night action in Carp saw Manotick defeat I4C Victory by a score of 5-1. Trevor Lahey had a strong outing on the mound for Manotick into the sixth inning when he was felled by a line drive to the head off the bat of Kevin McGuire. Lahey was able to walk off the field and tests at the hospital revealed no damage other than a bruise and some swelling. The Printers would like to express their appreciation to I4C for being so quick to grab ice packs from their first aid kit and assist in getting Mr Lahey as comfortable as possible.

After a scoreless first three innings Manotick broke the ice with a clutch two out single by Calvin Medynski that plated Joe Allan and Steve Edgerton, who reached with his first of three hits on the night.

The Printers added to their lead in the fifth with a solo home run by John Lindsey and an RBI double by Edgerton that scored Lahey.

In the sixth inning Lindsey hit another ball hard to right field that eluded the fielder and got all the way to the fence, allowing Medynski to score from first. Carp got on the board in the bottom of the frame with Trevor Wood driving in McGuire following his hit off Lahey, literally.
