Ottawa Blitz 7 Quyon COMBAT Flyers 1

The Ottawa Blitz defeated the Quyon Flyers 7-1 in GOFL quarterfinals on Wednesday night in Manotick to take a 1-0 lead in the best of three series.

Jamie Blakely had the 5 inning win for the Blitz, and Drew Hathaway took the loss for the Flyers.

The Blitz scored thier first run in the bottom of the 1st when Russ Mitchel took a pitch off the thigh, was advanced to third by a bunt and fielders choice, and then took home on a passed ball.

The Flyers evened the score in the top of the 3rd when a Nick Armitage RBI single scored Luke Young.

The Blitz regained the lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Russ "the run machine" Mitchel doubled and was scored on a 2-out single by Tony Searle.

The score remained 2-1 Blitz until things were broken open in the bottom of the 5th, when the Blitz scored their first 5 batters of the inning (Russ Mitchel, Andrew Bruce, Will Mood, Tony Searle and Derick Bulley). Derek Bergeron ended the game with a 2-out single to score Searle and Bulley.

Game 2 is Thursday night in Quyon.
