Softball Canada Receives Owen Sound Bid For 2010 Junior Men's Championship
Softball Canada confirms they have received a bid from the Owen Sound Brick Brothers Volkswagen Junior Selects to be the host city for the 2010 Canadian Junior Men's Fastball Championship Tournament. Again.
Mike Branchaud of Softball Canada confirms the required number of copies for the bid have been received and are now being distributed to the Selection Committee who will review the Owen Sound application.
Branchaud also confirms that the Owen Sound bid is the only one in their possession at the moment.Furthermore, Branchaud explains that based on Softball Canada regulations, any other interested party will be informed of the Owen Sound bid and advised that they have a 2 week deadline to submit their bid for consideration.
When asked if he anticipated another bid within the two week time frame, Branchaud stated there had been some interest shown in Eastern Canada.
There is a rumour that Nova Scotia, who finished second at the 2009 Championship in Owen Sound, were considering an application to host the week long tournament.
Owen Sound has been the host centre and organization for the past two summers.
In both 2008 & 2009, the Owen Sound bid was the only existing bid on the table.
