Condolences to the Sherman family

Condolences are in order for the first family of fastball in Elkland, PA the Shermans. Durwood "Durk" Sherman, who died Sunday, was the founder of the Labor Day tournament and the beautiful softball complex in Elkland. He missed his first ever Labor Day event this year since its inception in 1952.

My sympathies to sons Bill and Grant, their four sisters and the extended Sherman family. I didn't know Mr. Sherman personally, but his sons are great people and I'm sure that's an indication of their late mother and father.

Fittingly, Mr. Sherman's funeral services will be held Sept 10 at the Elkland Softball Stadium.
