Quyon defeats Easton in nine innings

from Shawn Laframboise

Quyon 8 Easton 3 (9 innings)

The Quyon COMBAT Flyers will be in the GOFL finals for the first time following a 8-3 win over Ottawa Team Easton in nine innings in the fifth and deciding game of their semi-final series.

Drew Hathway had the win, throwing all 9 innings. Corey Costello had the start, coming out after 5 innings with the score tied 1-1. Brad Porter took the loss for Easton.

Quyon scored their first run in the second on back-to-back triples from Steve McCord and Gerv Daley.

It was 1-1 going into 8 and Quyon scored 2. Easton answered right back with 1 to start the bottom of 8. With two outs and a man on first Quyon elected to give Costello the free pass to bring Jamey Mick to the plate. Mick came through again with a single to left field to tie it up.

Quyon broke it wide open in the top of 9. After a Shawn Laframboise infield single, Luke Young hit a 3-run shot to right field. The Combat Flyers tacked 2 more on and held on for the 8-3 victory.

Quyon will face the Stittsville 56ers in the GOFL best-of-five finals. Watch the blog for news on the schedule for the series.
