Game 4 report, Easton 2 Quyon 0

from Cory Morrison

Easton evened up the series last night with a 2-0 win over the home side Flyers at the Quyon Fairgrounds.

Corey Costello had the win giving up 2 infield hits and strking out 20. Joran Graham took the loss going 4 innings while giving up 2 hits 3 walks and striking out 7. Drew Hathway pitched the final 3 innings strking out 8/9 batters he faced.

Easton got on the board in the 3rd as Brad Pender walked, stole 2nd, took 3rd on a Kevin Chevrier sac fly then scored on a wild pitch.

The visiting team added to their lead in the 4th as Chad Milne singled then took second on a sac bunt by Cory Morrison and scored on a Andy Davey double to the gap.

Quyon had a chance in the 7th when Matt Greer reached on an error and Nick Armitage reached on an infield hit. With runners on first and second and two out, Steve McCord lifted a 2-2 pitch in short left center that Brad Pender made a nice sliding catch on to end the rally.

Who is this Corey Costello fella that through 20k's? And who is this Pender fella that runs like the wind and makes circus-type catches to end games?

I am a regular follower of the GOFL Blog, and I don't recall seeing these names in any of the Easton summaries all year. Oh, nevermind, I went and looked again, and they did play ONE game. right at the end of the year. My mistake.

I guess that Porter fella must be ill, because from what I remember reading, he did pretty darn ok for Team Easton through the year.

Good luck to both teams and the replacement players as well. And to the team Easton regulars who are ridin the pine, don't worry, you will have a place on the field in June, July and early August 2010.
