Carp beats Blitz 8-2

from Trevor Wood

With the equipment barely dried out from the rain-soaked affair against Kars on Wednesday night, I4C Victory played host to the Ottawa Blitz in the second game on back to back nights.

Derick Bulley had the start for the Blitz, and Neil Cooke made his 2010 GOFL debut after losing an arm wrestle with a boat dock prior to the season start.

The Blitz opened the scoring in the second taking a two run lead when a Brett Dugan single scored Russ Mitchell who reached on a dropped third strike and Derek Bergeron who walked.

The Victory were held off the scoreboard in the first two innings (stranding 5 runners) but scored 3 in the third. Kevin McGuire reached on an error, Al Read singled (one of his 4 hits on the night) and singles by Tim Power, Shawn Simzer, and Mike Money put Carp up front 3-2.

Carp would add another run in the fourth with an Aaron Amo single and stolen base cashed in by an Al Read single.

The Victory increased their lead to 5-2 when a Shawn Simzer walk scored on a single by Dan Konkle. A Kevin Mcguire double, Al Read double, Brooks Paziuk walk (the hard way), Tim Power single and Shawn Simzer sac fly stretched the Carp lead to 8-2.

Derick Bulley went the distance for the Blitz. Neil Cooke had the win over 5 innings, while Kyle Olson saw two in relief.
