Oshawa Rebels 10 Kars Aces 7
with info from Cory Morrison
The final game at Grafton was a high scoring 3 hour affair, with the Oshawa Rebels taking the Jim Bradford title with a 10-7 win over Kars Aces.
Dan Konkle started the final for Kars while Matt Leahy started for Oshawa.
Kars went up 1-0 in the bottom of the first but Oshawa scored 4 in the second to go up 4-1. Konkle was then pulled and Brad Porter went into pitch.
Dave Tubman hit a 3 run shot to tie it at 4 in the bottom of two.
Oshawa then went up 5-4 in the third.
Kars tied it the bottom of the third but thought they should have had another run. The Aces had runners on 2nd and 3rd with two out when Scott Herriot singled to left. The man on third scored and when the left fielder bobbled the ball, Kyle Jamieson appeared to score as well. Meanwhile the fielder threw to second to pick off Herriot. Kars thought they had a 6-5 lead, but the plate umpire determined the second run had not scored in time and the game was in fact 5-5.
Oshawa scored two more to go up 7-5. By this time, Lahey was removed for John Sharpe on the pitching slab.
Cory Morrison's two run homer then tied the game and it stayed tied 7-7 until the final frame.
Porter came out and was replaced by Corey Costello. Oshawa scored two runs in the top of the seventh off Costello, before Konkle re-entered the game, and he allowed another run on a sac fly for a 10-7.
Kars got two on with two out in the 7th but couldn't cash them, and the game ended with an Oshawa victory.
Winning pitcher, John Sharpe in relief of Matt Leahy.
Losing pitcher, Corey Costello in relief of Dan Konkle and Brad Porter, with relief from Konkle.
Scott Herriot was named top hitter in the final.
