How cold was it?

The tournament today in Williamsburg was cold. In fact, I would say it is the coldest I have ever been playing ball in May, including the old Kingston tournament on Victoria Day weekend which used to be perennially chilly.

How cold was it today?

- The first baseman in the 12:30pm game was wearing a tuque, not a ball cap.

- The umpire for the 4pm game (let's call him "Neddy") was wearing a blue Elmer Fudd hat with ear flaps under his mask.

- The fans, including Caveman and Fitzroy Junior (plus a bonus cousin along for the day), were huddled under blankets while watching the games. Of course for my boys they couldn't just sit quietly and watch the game. It slowly degenerated into a game where one kid was under the blanket as a "ghost" and the other two body checked him into the backstop.

Anyway, point being, it was freezing. Let's hope for better weather tomorrow. Either that or Lyle should stock up on whiskey / Bailey's & coffee in the beer garden.
