West Carleton Electric win home opener 2-1 over Carp I4C Victory

West Carleton Electric won their home opener 2-1 in Fitzroy Harbour in GOFL action on Tuesday night against visiting Carp I4C Victory .

In what was a well-played game of fastpitch softball, Andy Barber had the complete game win with a four hitter, while Cody Price took the loss despite allowing only three hits over five innings. Neil Cooke threw an inning of relief.

The home team loaded the bases in the first on three walks but were unable to convert.

Carp scored the first run of the night in the top of the fourth. Eric Colvin singled with one out, but was put out on a fielder's choice at second by a nice play by Electric shortstop Michael Cavanagh. With Kevin McGuire on first, Victory executed a hit and run, as Al Read doubled to right centre and McGuire scored to make it 1-0.

West Carleton responded in the bottom of the fourth. Jeff Barber doubled off the grey monster in right to lead off, and was brought in by a Jeff Cavanagh line drive over to centre field.

For his excellent performance on the slab, Andy Barber is the Caveman's Choice for player of the game.
